Literally, this means lively and gay. We certainly find we play it this way. Freilakhs are one of the major forms in Klezmer and are intended to stir things up a bit and get people dancing. If you don't want to tap your feet at least to a freilakh, then clearly you are totally unmusical! But even if you can't dance to it, you can watch others ...
